"Tasha, Thanks for starting the google doc. We return from Thanksgiving break tomorrow and I'll share it with my class. We have lots of questions for you too we can add. We are not blogging yet, my class blog is mainly a way to keep parents…"
"My kids loved seeing all the handshakes this past week. We particularly enjoyed how different they were from each other. We have lots of questions for each group! Anyone interested in either emailing or skyping? We only have school on Mon/Tues this…"
"One more thought for today. I noticed Betsye mentioned eyejot.com. I checked it out and it seems like a great way to ask each other questions when we are in time zones that may not work for skype sessions. It's an apple based program,…"
I agree with using Voicethread. My individual kids will have accounts tomorrow, so I'll be able to have them comment and then I'll go in as moderator (as Tasha suggested) to get them up.
Tomorrow we begin! We'll do our KWL…"
"One additional thought-
A member of one of the other groups created a "Daily News" link on the wiki. It is one way their children are communicating with one another, getting to know each other there. I love that idea! Any interest in…"
During today's meeting, we were asked to decide this week what our final project will look like. Julie talked about the need for each group to decide how to creatively share the media they collect. Ibook was mentioned by a couple of…"
"Stephanie, it's a crazy next couple of weeks, but I'm sure we can fit in a skype call. How would you like it to go? We have early release the next two Wednesdays, no school for kids on Friday, and Veteran's Day off next…"
"I completely agree about working in teams to co-create something. I was hoping to do something where the kids are working together to make a contribution to the world community or each other's classrooms."
"I figured it out. First I logged in using the email address and password you listed below. Then I clicked on Share. I put my voicethread email under Contacts, then clicked the icons next to my name allowing editing rights. Finally I clicked Send…"
I created an identity, but I think because I'm under your login I can't comment with it. I think I'd need to be added as a person who the VT is shared with and can comment with a different account. "
After the online meeting for the 'Asian' side of the world tonight, Tasha and I have been a bit proactive in stepping forward with our Team 1 project.
Thanks to Paula and Tasha for getting the handshakes up so quickly, they look great!
We are proposing that each class in Team 1 does a voicethread about a game that is popular in your country or area or school. That way, our kids can add their own comments or thoughts or questions to the thread and collaborate that way.
Then, we will go ahead with the 'Play Storm.' Where ALL of our students work in groups of 2 or 3 and are given exactly the same materials. (Not sure what they are just yet. We can discuss that later.) The students will have to make up their own game with those materials and we can collaborate on sharing and playing each others games!
Tasha and I also thought we'd avoid the confusion of so many platforms to communicate. Let's just send each other messages in here. I have created a group for Team 1 and will invite you all in once it's approved.
We decided we should post everything on the wiki and the ning as the ning provides a more global experience (for anyone in the Flat Classroom project).
Tasha and I also talked about Skyping with each other, being in a relatively friendly timezone. I don't know if that's something the US people might be interesting in organising? Just a thought!
I hope this give you a bit of insight. Please keep an eye out for message on here from each other. Look forward to finishing my handshake in the next day or two and posting as well!
